Rockford Fosgate Showcases PMX-3 Marine/Motorsports Compact Digital Media Receiver at 2016 SEMA Show

Designed for marine and motorsports applications, the PMX-3 will be shipping in early 2017 with an MSRP of $349.99.

“The PMX-3 is a ground up design that features a 2.7-inch full color TFT display for optimum viewing even in full sun that is optically wet bonded to prevent any dust or moisture penetration,” explained Jake Braaten, Rockford’s V.P. of Product Development & Engineering. “It’s IPX6-rated and uses a water resistant rotary encoder knob with white LED button illumination and front mounted sub level controls. We further validate the unit with 500 hours of testing under both the ASTM B117 and D4329 testing standards to make sure it will hold up under years of daily use exposed to the elements. Additionally, with features such as Pandora control capabilities, Bluetooth audio steaming with album art support for Apple and Android products, and SiriusXM tuner compatibility, this unit becomes a true command center of any system.”

PMX-3 output flexibility comes with a 4 x 50 @ 2ohm internal amplifier or front and rear/sub output RCA's allowing the addition of aftermarket amplifiers for more power and output. “We've also upgraded the unit to feature a reverse camera composite video input with reverse trigger control and a day/night display mode for better viewing in low light conditions,” Braaten added. “Finally, add in the custom GUI interface, wired remote expansion capabilities, and EEprom memory system and you have the only media receiver you’ll ever need.”

The PMX-3 also includes 7-band DSP equalization and integrated crossover controls, allowing the user to tailor the sound to their liking. Of course marine and motorsports systems often need more control so the unit is expandable with up to three additional wired remotes, such as Rockford Fosgate’s PMX-1R, which features full album art support, giving you full control capabilities where you need it most.
