Rockford Fosgate releases its new beast, The Fast and the Furious - VW Golf R32
OBRIGHEIM, GERMANY – At the Car+Sound show in Sinsheim, Germany (11 – 13 April), Rockford Fosgate let its new beast out of its cage. Inspired by the movie The Fast and the Furious, the 2003 VW Golf R32, with 4,000 Watts of power and its 240 HP V6 engine, finally saw the light. After Rockford Corporation (NASDAQ:ROFO) signed a licensing agreement with Universal Studios Consumer Products Group last year that allows Rockford to use Universal trademarks relating to the hit movie, The Fast and the Furious, and Universal Pictures’ upcoming sequel 2Fast2Furious , a new show car was needed for the European markets. As the European operation is run out of Germany, the choice of vehicle was pretty easy. It had to be German! It had to be fast and it had to attract a wide demographic mix of young men and women!
The Golf R32 incorporates nothing but the best that Rockford Fosgate has to offer. Up front is the new RFXRAV DVD source unit that feeds video to four Autosonic monitors. The heart of the audio system includes two Power 851X and two Power 1501BD amplifiers. These amps feed the juice to four 12-inch HE2 woofers and four pairs of FNQ component systems. You will also find Connecting Punch Dead Skin sound damping and accessories. The audio installation was completed by Thilo Rittger, Xtreme Car Audio GmbH, Elsenfeldt. Thilo and his team worked five weeks on the installation. Along with the serious Rockford Fosgate audio components, they used 25 meters of Fiberglas mat, 40 liters of Fiberglas resin, 32 meters of sanding paper (and countless hours sanding the vehicle) and 185 cans of Red Bull. Tuning of the car was done by Bernd Knabe, Reifenhaus Freigericht GmbH. Bernd and his team completed the tuning and painting in just two weeks!
The project would NOT have been possible without the help from the following companies: American Products Company: Floor mats, shift light, pedal pads, fire extinguisher and flamed grill mesh BBS: High performance aluminum wheels Bilstein: Performance shock absorbers and adjustable lowering kit B & M: High performance short shifter Borla: High performance exhausts system Crazy Colors: Airbrush painting Good Year: High performance tires In.Pro: Tail lights Nitrous Express Inc.: Limited edition high performance Nitrous Oxide performance enhancement system OPTX by StreetGlow: Neon under car kit, headlight strobes and various LED´s Raid: Performance steering wheel Recaro: Performance seats Reifenhaus Freigericht: Install of ALL the tuning parts Xtreme Car Audio: Install of ALL the audio parts X Treme Parts: Rear wing Special thanks also goes to Andrea Pinkerton, SEMA ; Frank Storkebaum, GMS and Danny Rosenberger.
