Basically, i'm just trying to get some feedback on what kind of amp i should get for these subs. I was thinking the T600-2. Mind you, i don't need to get as close to 800W. 250-350W should sound good enough i guess. Not in competition but i do wanna try and get a little nose tickling if i can. :) haha.

The subs are:
Dual 4-ohm,
400W rms/800W peak

The T600-2 amp:
200W x 2 @ 4-Ohms RMS
300W x 2 @ 2-Ohms RMS
600W x 1 @ 4-Ohms bridged RMS
1-Ohm x 2 Stable
2-Ohm x 1 bridged Stable

Vehicle:
2000 Chevrolet Silverado Ext Cab. (going under back seat, facing down)

I was thinking of wiring the two 12's together for a 4-ohm lead. And bridging the 2 channel amp to the subs at 4-ohms. That would get me the 600W x 1 @ 4-ohms bridged RMS. Or should i just bridge one 12" to draw the full 600W to it? I guess i could put the other 12" in my wife's car, if i have too.

Now would the subs each get the same amount of power to them equally? Or is this not a good way to set them up? I prefer 4ohm over 2ohm because as far as i can remember, 2ohm creates more heat to the amp and this is going to be under a seat and i don't want it to get too hot or overheat. I've been out of the game for over 3 years. :( Yes these are old subs but they are brand new in the box. Never used them and i've had them for over 3yrs in my closet along with my precision power amp (pcx-280) and coustic 3way crossover XM6. :) As you can tell, all those products are no longer made but they are brand new so im taking a chance lol. Gave away my front/rears to a friend and they still sounded nice. Going to be getting some components for front and back.

Thanks for any feedback,
BoomBoom

I would go with one 12" and either a P500-1bd or a P300-1 running at 2 ohms. You could build a box to hold two 12's that will fit under the seat but you would be choking the subs. I had the same problem in my '03 with two 10's.

Thanks for the reply. Yea, i've been reading on silverado's - under the seat - that you would have to go with one 12" with a box that extends all the way from one end to the other so there's enough room for pushed air. Or two 10" with the same box specs. I've seen pre-built boxes for 2-10's but never for 2-12's for under the seat in a truck.

I'll build a box for one 12" (under one seat) and mount the amp on the other side (under the other seat) and see how that goes. I'm thinking of going with the P500-1bd. If i don't like the sound of it, then i'll have to go with 2-10's with like a T600-2 or something. And i'll put one 12" in my explorer and the other 12" in my wife's car. Or maybe build a box and put them up for sale on here.... not sure.

Other recommendation are still welcomed while i draw out my box plans.

I have lots of room behind my back seat that I used to mount my amps. If you have room there too then you can get a little more air space for your box.

Yea, i was thinking of that. I'll most likely make a carpet mount and attach it to the back seat of the ext. cab.

Also, i know i have seen it somewhere but can't remember... if my radio has 3 rca outputs (high, mid, low), which would be best to use for an amp that is powering both the fronts and rears?... the mids rca output?... If i had more space i would get 3 amps and power each section (fronts, rears, subs) separately.

And, as far as the capacitor, does that go before the dist. block or after?.... I'm guessing before.

Thanks in advance,
BoomBoom

well for the RCA outputs, they are most likely Front, Rear and Subwoofer. so if you have a 4 channel amp then use the Front and Rears, if you have a 2 channel amp running both sets of speakers use the front RCA's. the sub RCA's should run to your subwoofer amp.

the capacitor can go before your distribution block, or you might be able to use it as the distribution block. but if you really want it to work the best, hook it up after your distribution block on the power wire going to the subwoofer amp.

Ok, i have decided to build a box for both 12's and put them behind the seat in the cab of the truck and put the sub amp and front/rear amp under the seat. I have calculated the space that is being taken away from the depth of the box and added it to the length and height. I was so close in getting the T500-1BD amp then i started second guessing. If it sounds like crap, i'll keep the amp, take out the 12", make a normal box for them and put it all in my explorer. Then buy two 10's for the truck, ughh. I have never had 10's before.

NOW... if i get the T600-2 amp, i can bridge the 2 channels @ 4-ohms, 600W RMS output and wire the two 12's together for a 4-ohm 1-channel and get 300W RMS into each sub, correct?.... or is there a better solution?

I figure 600W combined RMS is better than 400W RMS...... we'll soon see i guess.

yeah, i would do the 2 subs at 4 ohms bridged on the T600-2, you will most likely be getting ~750 watts total because the amps are underrated. but that is the easiest way, just to bridge the 2 channels at 4 ohms.
